Albania 8 August: Elbasan - Lezhe

At least we started this scorcher of a day at the summit of a peak! We will be travelling due north, up the Albanian coastline.

Dipavajan is back on the road, after a relaxing break.

Mutual curiosity.

Olive trees decorate the countryside, and can often be seen sheltering 4 or 5 Harmony runners from the blazing sun.

We have some Albanian friends running with us. They're very good runners, with lots of marathon experience.

Like nectar from the Gods, tons to go around.

Taking a pause to understand the torch.

At many places along the road, people sell the abundant crops they have worked so hard in the heat to harvest.

A glimpse of the day's hard, dead-straight run; constant comments from the navigation system: 'Recalculating, recalculating...'

Gas station rejuevenation.

Mother Teresa is a strong Albanian role model who inspires many of us. Her tireless work for the betterment of the human condition is as yet unparalleled.

We are happy to stop and take a picture at her monument and as well, to walk the streets that inspired her to achieve such humble and clear offerings.

The team is eager to join the day's last three runners as we enter Lezhe for the night.

Running into the city with a police escort creates a huge traffic jam as usual, or rather, a collective moment to contemplate the power of tolerance and friendship :).

Guided by our youngest Albanian runner "Popcorn," the team brings the flame through the heart of Albania. With Mother Teresa's work to their collective credit, Albanians are no strangers to our efforts and the country embraces us accordingly.
