Albania 11 May: Pogradec - Tirana

Early morning in Pogradec, beautifully located at Lake Ohrid...

After a good night's rest, we attended a meeting at the lake; a local traditional dancing group performed for us.

..some of our runners even joined in...

...the Mayor of Pogradec welcomed the World Harmony Run...

...and ran a few metres with the torch!...

...thanks for running with us!...

...after a great run along the lake and a good uphill, we reached Perrenjas.

Students from the local high school waited for us at the school fence...

...a short presentation...

...and a run around the football ground...

..siesta...

..on to Librazhd...

...the Mayor welcomed us and spent some time with us...

...a future athlete....

...lunch-time...

...we reached Elbasan...

...a group of runners and cyclists was waiting for us...

...everybody got flowers.....

...the Mayor of Elbasan...

...the athletes ran out of the city with us...

...after Elbasan we had to climb a tough mountain range.  We ran through mountain forest for the 50 km lpreceding Tirana.

...a meeting on the road...

Some bears, at last...

...we reached Tirana and ended our long day at the feet of a statue of Mother Teresa. Mother Teresa was Albanian and a real citizen of the world!

Passionflower...
