Belarus 3 July: Border with Lithuania - Grodno

Welcome to Belarus...

Right at the border, a delegation of people and runners were awaiting us. The crew from a TV station was there, and asked me for an interview right away. We learned that we had arrived on National Independence Day. Since almost all of our team members stayed in Lithuania, only Matthias, Tamas and I crossed the border.

But on the other side our new team members were already eagerly waiting - Alex, Ksenia and Olga from Russia, Maria from Germany, and Larisa from Belarus - joining us again (having already run with us in Russia).

Together with the authorities, we crossed the border into Belarus...

Olga, from Russia...

Maria finishing her first few km on the World Harmony Run. What a joy...Congratulations :)

Just before Grodno we met a big group of runners, which ran with us all the way into the city.

They covered almost 10 km., together with the team.

Ksenia, giving an interview in front of our hotel.

Later on, after dinner, we were shown around the city. The nice man who was our tour guide told us that if you hold this gentleman's hand you can make a wish...

People all over the country were celebrating their independence day. When it got dark we could observe fireworks over the city. Very beautiful....
