Canada 31 May: Kingston

Live from the road report by Pujakaha Humbert:

The World Harmony Run left KCVI high school in Kingston today, with runners Kempee Stein, Lauren Sagadore, and Anne Marie Duarte of the KCVI track team carrying the flags and torch. Photo-journalists from “Kingston This Week” and “The Kingston Whig-Standard” took a flurry of snaps and CKWS-TV caught the colourful moment.

A police escort led the team to City Hall, where Mayor Harvey Rosen decreed “World Harmony Run Day” and spoke in support of international cooperation and peaceful conflict resolutions. Everyone received a pin bearing the image of City Hall.

.

The WHR continued over the causeway across Cataraqui Bay and up the steep hill to La Salle High School. Band-leader Doug Brooks directed the La Salle Adult Beginners Band in a fine arrangement of the World Harmony Run song. The band of 12 people ranged in age from 52 to 84 and played very well. Members of the band were very receptive to the message of the WHR and appreciated receiving stickers for the website.

Thanks again to the three excellent runners from KCVI, for their energy and enthusiasm.
