Canada 6 May: Prince Albert

Live from the Road report compiled by Sutapa Adelman from notes by Jauvana Westwood, Prince Albert, 6 May:

Patti Canon-Levesque, a local running enthusiast came out to join the WHR team today and led us along the Rotary Trail to Memorial Square at City Hall. Zach Stene, a young local boy who has been on his school's cross-country relay team for the past couple of years, joined in.

At 2 pm at memorial Square, Patti Cannon-Levesque passed the torch onto Marge Nainaar, president of the Multicultural Council in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

An afternoon filled with local performances got underway at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Mayor Jim Stiglitz and WHR team member, Jauvana Westwood. The First Nations Drummers Iron Swing performed and invited the audience to do a Round Dance around them.

WHR team member Jauvana Westwood spoke on behalf of the WHR team and invited the audience to come up and touch the torch and make a wish for world harmony.

Ay'Ron Masuskapoe sang and performed on guitar as did Steve Brewer. Members of the Multi-Cultural Council from Liberia performed for the audience and the Prince Albert Irish Dancing Troupe closed out the afternoon.
