Our day started with a charming and inspiring inter-school event in the Clarington-Bowmanville area.

Notre journée a commencé par une très charmante et inspirante activité scolaire dans la région de Clarington-Bowmanville.

We would like to offer a special thanks to all the participating schools in Bowmanville: Central Public School, Dr. Ross Tilley Public School, Ecole Ontario Street Public School, Harold Longworth Public School, John M. James Public School, Vincent Massey Public School, Waverley Public School and Bowmanville Senior Public School. Your enthusiasm and participation in the World Harmony Run made it an inspiring event for us all.

Nous aimerions remercier tous les participants des écoles de Bowmanville: l'École "Central Public School", l'École "Dr. Ross Tilley Public School", l'École "Ontario Street Public School", l'École "Harold Longworth Public School", l'École "John M. James Public School", l'École "Waverly Public School" ainsi que l'École "Bowmanville Senior Public School". Votre enthousiasme et active participation à la Course de l'Harmonie Mondiale en ont fait un événement très inspirant pour nous tous.

The different schools could be identified by the colourful array of jerseys in the crowd. The ceremony lasted for about an hour, during which time students from all of the schools read poems they had composed on the subject of harmony, sang songs, played musical instruments, and presented the team with home-made banners and signs honouring the run’s theme.

On pouvait identifier les différents costumes de chaque écoles formant ainsi dans la foule un splendide étalage de couleurs. La cérémonie a duré une heure, pendant laquelle les étudiants de chaque école ont lu les poèmes qu'ils avaient composés sur le thème de l'harmonie; ils ont chanté des chansons, joué des instruments de musique, et ont présenté le groupe de la Course de l'harmonie avec des bannières faites à la main et des affiches honorant la Course.

After this inspiring and eclectic display of creativity, the torch was passed and a certificate of appreciation was presented to Cheryl Fowler, principal of Central Public School, who was instrumental in organizing the event.

Après cette inspirante, éclectique et très créative présentation, les gens ont tenu le flambeau et nous avons remis un certificat d'appréciation à Cheryl Fowler, principal de l'école "Central Public School", responsable de l'organisation de cet événement.

We had many fabulous events today, so many in fact that we split our team into two and a lucky few headed for Picton's Sophiasburgh Central School. A special thank you to Principal, Mr Scott Macdonald for making our visit possible and offering the World Harmony Run such a warm welcome.

Nous avions tant d'activités superbes aujourd’hui, que nous avons dû diviser notre groupe, et quelques chanceux parmi nous, se sont rendu à l'école "Sophiasburgh Central School" de Picton. Nous remercions particulièrement le principal, M. Scott Macdonald, d' avoir rendu possible notre visite et nous avoir reçu aussi chaleureusement.

The remainder of our team headed straight to Kingston and, for the second year in a row, we had the pleasure of being accompanied by a fine group of runners from KCVI high school along with a group of runners from two other local high schools, LaSalle and QECVI, through the streets of downtown Kingston.

Le reste de notre équipe s'est dirigé tout droit vers Kingston et, pour la deuxième année consécutive, nous avons eu le bonheur d'être accompagné dans les rues du centre-ville par un groupe d'excellents coureurs provenant des écoles secondaires KCVI, LaSalle et QECVI.

We ran along the lake-front, past Kingston’s array of famous historical buildings to City Hall, where we were greeted by Deputy Mayor Vicki Schmolka who read a proclamation and ran a portion of the course with us.

Nous avons couru sur les bords du lac, passant la populaire série d'édifices historiques jusqu'à la Mairie, où nous a reçu la mairesse suppléante, Vicki Schmolka qui nous a lu une proclamation et a couru une partie du trajet avec nous.

We then made our way along the causeway and past Fort Henry, finishing at Ecole Lundy Lane where we gave a brief, but inspiring presentation to the elementary school students.

Nous avons ensuite repris la route et passé devant Fort Henry, pour arriver à l'école Lundy Lane où nous avons animé une brève mais inspirante cérémonie avec les élèves.

We were also graced by a fine group of musicians: Doug Rooks and his Adult Band played a stirring arrangement of the WHR theme song and a talented songwriting duo performed two original compositions. All in all, it was an enjoyable, musical, and eventful day.

Nous avons été choyés par la participation d'un groupe d'excellents musiciens : “Doug Rooks and his Adult Band” qui ont interprété un arrangement très touchant du thème musical de la Course de l'harmonie mondiale, et d'un duo de compositeurs talentueux qui ont présenté deux oeuvres originales. Nous avons eu droit à une journée musicalement agréable et bien remplie.
