http://peacefulschoolsinternational.org

First was Verdun Elementary, where the WHR was greeted in their gym by over 100 children who sang the World Harmony Run Song . We then had some fun with an education exercise and the word Harmony.

Second was Riverview Elementary School, with a ceremony in the schoolyard where the children sang the World Harmony Run Song accompanied by a guitar. On leaving, the run was accompanied by a teacher and a student who ran with the team to LaSalle H.S.

Third, Allion Elementary School in LaSalle had 200 children greet us in the gym with Canadian flags and thunderous applause of spontaneous joy. They sang the song, "All we are saying is give peace a chance”

The WHR team members split, one team staying at Allion for the ceremony, while the other team ran with a team of school runners, who delivered a peace message to LaSalle High School.

At LaSalle High School, the students had just finished viewing the WHR video. The WHR team joined them in the Assembly Hall for an official welcome after which the students from Allion delivered their peace message.

The WHR team was then reunited, to run 3.2 km to Orchard Elementary.

L'équipe de la CHM à nouveau réunie, s'apprête à courir 3.2 km. vers l'École "Orchard Elementary School".

The sixth school was Bishop Whelan Elementary, where the ceremony was in the schoolyard. Teams of children made a large circle, relaying the WHR torch while other children held their own handmade imitation torches. The WHR team then taught the children the World Harmony Run Song .

Then on to the Lester B Pearson School Board building, where the team was served a delicious vegetarian meal and refreshments in the boardroom. It was here that Judy Grant, Coordinator of Spiritual Animation and Peaceful Schools International, officially presented to the Board to celebrate their fifth year of Peaceful Schools International being a part of their Board, and to be displayed permanently in their building, a “Harmony Quilt” made up of 25 different squares, 24 donated by Lester B Pearson schools and one by the WHR showing our torch symbol and logo. This quilt is a fundraiser to help support the Peaceful Schools' dream to build a Peace Centre in Sierra Leone. A poem describes the theme of the quilt, the final lines of which are “You must have peace in your heart. It is out of our hearts that we speak, we think and we act.

Judy Grant showed this quilt at each school.

The last school was John Rennie High School, where on the way we were met by a teacher and 4 students from nearby schools who ran with our team. The school band was assembled outside John Rennie High and played for us, while students held two large paper banners, one reading “Welcome to Peaceful Schools” the other, “World Harmony Run”. Teachers talked about harmony and peace, and the ceremony concluded with the raising of the Peaceful Schools International flag and the singing of the World Harmony Run Song .

On to Concordia University, Loyola Campus where we were met by the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Martin Singer, who offered this message,"We think that higher education is one very important way to achieve world harmony......education is a key way to resolve differences and reduce tensions." He, as well as several deans, teachers and staff offered their thoughts and hopes for world harmony while holding the torch.

The last stop was at McGill University Centre for Continuing Education, where English language lecturer Devaki Groulx, her teaching colleagues, and some of her international students greeted us. Members of the international communities who teach and study there offered their wishes for world harmony and congratulated the runners on an excellent day.
