Canada 26 September: Winnipeg - Brandon

Victoria Albert School was our first school of the day.

As we entered and ran around the gym,

the school choir led by our friend Purnakama sang the World Harmony Run theme song. We introduced our message to the children. The children had a beautiful program prepared for us - they showed us a slide show and sang a song about friendship and harmony.

Our Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the Vice Principal Brenda Langton.

Before we left we received drawings for each of us with our names. Each child chose a person and drew a picture for us. That was such a nice thing to do. We all got so much joy from the drawings.

As the children were gathering outside to run a lap around the school with us, we passed the torch from hand to hand.

Still few students with their physics teacher Mr. Roger Lourenzo continued running with us to the Central Park where they passed the torch to the representatives of Sister MacNamara School.

One last picture and ….

… off we go – to the next school with our new guides.

They welcomed us with big claps and cheers as we ran around the gym.

We played a guessing game with children as we were introducing our countries.

Sung our song and the children joined. Played our game with feeling harmony in our hearts.

Presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the Principal Ken Seiler.

They made a great slideshow for us on a theme harmony.

And at the end they surprised us …

They formed a huge heart on the school field while we were waiting in the gym, and at the very end we ran into the Heart and took a picture from the top of the roof.

Our teams split for a while to run different parts of road leading to our next destination.

We met again at the Portage la Prairie City border to run together the last 3 km to the City Hall.

where we met Mayor Ken Brennan,

shared our message with him

and continued to the Laverendrye School.

What a wonderful slideshows they made for us.

After watching their program prepared for us, we presented our Certificate of Appreciation to the Principal Chuck Naish.

We introduced our message of Harmony to the children.

We sung and mimed our World Harmony run song and they joined us.

What a great day so far.. and it’s not yet finished.

Our teams parted and we continued alone to our last destination – a tiny little school - Tanner’s Crossing School in Minnedosa. We were really looking forward to our last Ceremony of the day.

We were running late and so it happened that we overlooked how low we were on gas. All of the sudden our car stopped on the highway in the middle of nowhere.

We are really sorry; we could not make it, kids.

We pushed and tried and ….

met this great man, our savior – Ross and his son, who in spite of being on his way to Winnipeg, didn’t mind turning home and got some gas for us. Thank you Ross.
