Canada 28 September: Russell - Yorkton

TEAM A

Today the Harmony Run teams spent most of the day running. The girls’ team ran about 42km to the city of Yorkton, Saskatchewan. It was extremely windy, which very much presented a challenge. We pulled through though and made our way, running into the city! We arrived in Yorkton in the afternoon and met with Bernie Wlock, a Yorkton Pacers runner. He ran with us a few kilometers to the City Centre Park where we met up with the rest of the Harmony Run team, Mayor Chris Wyatt and the Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Yorkton. There, we had a ceremony in the park, presenting the Mayor and Deana Jesmer, events coordinator of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Of Yorkton, with certificates of appreciation and World Harmony Run t-shirts. It was a very nice ceremony, and although it was quite windy, we all enjoyed the enthusiasm and joy that the people of Yorkton showed us.

TEAM B

After staying in Russell for the night, we left in the beautiful early morning light for Langenburg

Grasshopper lands on left arm.

Another sumptuous buffet was waiting for the runners in Langenburg Town Hall

Deputy Mayor Brad Sicinski wins the title of most enthusiastic Deputy Mayor to run with the torch on the Canadian leg of the World Harmony Run, so far.

The Mayor of Churchbridge, Walter Karau was there with refreshments to greet the runners as they crossed the windy prairies.

and were joined by Lisa and Kyle.

who came to carry the torch out of Churchbridge on Highway 5

Very grateful for Kyle and Lisa's help in carrying the torch, it's still a long way to Vancouver.

Yorkton Big Brothers and Sisters came out to greet us on the road and were so excited to see the torch.

Prapti greets the Mayor of Yorkton. Chris Wyatt

This was the last ceremony of the day for both teams and we were happy to be staying in Yorkton for the night.
