Canada 13 September: Montreal, PQ - Papineauville, PQ

Team A

Prapti and Manapriti left yesterday so today we had lots of kilometers to run. Perfect weather and a beautiful route were our companions.

During my run I ran into a local runner who was out for a 10km run. He took the torch, and we ran together at a very good pace for a few km.

In Oka we met with some kids from “La Maison des Jeunes”. They ran with us for a little while and tackled a giant hill for us. Thanks kids! Maybe next year you will join us again. It was great meeting all of you!!

In the beautiful town of Saint Placide we met Mayor Denis Lavigne, who ran with us and told us about the unique festival that his town holds every year in February, when many people from different countries get together to fly their kites while the lake is all frozen.

Saint Placide holds the record for flying the largest kite in the world, as well as an award from the Canadian Government for being a most innovative and active town. Mr. Lavigne is credited with bringing this wonderful, joyful and unique event to fruition. Mayor Lavigne has a personality to match the event. You gave our day as much colour as the kites that come to Saint Placide. Thank you.

Sevati showing her first two blisters after an 18-km run.

Making friends on the road.

The Ottawa River was by our side the entire day.

Getting ready for a well- earned meal in Prapti's restaurant

Team B

Councillor and citizens of Calumet welcome the runners.

Then join us in running out of town.

A quick stop with some of the locals greatly enthused by the torch.

Welcome to Abichal joining the team.

Mayor of Pointe-Au-Chene receives the torch.

Eric makes the most of his last day.

The Mayor of Fassett receives the torch.

Some local Fassett children along with their parents take us on a tour of the town.

The Mayor of Montebello welcomes us to town.

This young lady accompanied us out of town - she is a decathlete and an excellent runner.

Papineauville Mayor Andre Blais along with the local walkers club greeted us and joined us as we made our way through town.

Farewell to Gabriel who has been with us since Halifax. Thanks for all your help and patient French language instruction.
