United Arab Emirates 15 January: Dubai

Wednesday morning we visited old friends of the World Harmony Run: the Dubai English Speaking School - DESS.

The kids were already waiting for us in a hall as two of the students carried the torch in...

Some of the kids gave us some bright ideas about how to promote friendship and harmony!

(Mr. Hammond, the principal of DESS)

The next morning we visited Cambridge International School.

As it was raining cats and dogs (we for sure did not expect this kind of weather as we planned the Dubai-trip...) , we had to meet the kids in a covered area.

Nevertheless the kids enjoyed it and we spent a great time!

One of the usual highlights: the teachers run for harmony!

and everybody else followed...

we said good-bye and the kids gave us a high-five!

Afterwards we went next door to the New Indian Model School! Miraculous the weather cleared up and the sun came out. First we met a group of students who were just about to start their exames: a good way to start by holding the torch!

Next we met some young girls. We presented the WHR and Surasa, our Ultra-distance World record holder team-member (she holds the WR for 1000km, 700 miles and 1300 miles....) told the girls about the importance of self-transcendence.

the pricipal and his deputy held the torch together!

While our girl team-members went on to meet some of the older girls in the school, our boys stayed in the pricipal's office and enjoyed real Indian Chai Tea and Samosa's....

Finally we met all the employees from the Somerset Residence. The Somerset Residence hosted our World Harmony Run Team already for the second time and we followed a good old tradition: to run together!

As we run last year once around the block, we improved this year dramatically: nobody wanted to stop so we kept going for three laps!

Thanks to the Somerset-management and all the stuff members for your hospitality, concern and team spirit!
