Finland 2 August: Hyvinkää - Lempäälä

This was a real day of guest runners! Pretty much all day, we had runners joining us. Finland has a remarkable tradition of long distance running and today this quality came again to the fore!

We started from Hyvinkää, and enjoyed straight roads through fresh green forests.

We met the first runners at the border to Janakkala.

More runners welcomed us in Hämeenlinna.

As we reached the marketplace, little kids were waiting and, after a presentation we played some funny kids games together! Then we ran with them.

Lunch break on the road...

In Hattula, enthusiastic kids waited along the road every 100 metres, for an organised relay into the city. The meeting ended with a small presentation.

One fast marathon runner came all the way to the regional border.

Runners from Iittala (Kalvola) waited at the community border, and passed the torch to the next community.

The Valkeakoski runners guided us for the next hour, all the way through the city.

Finally we reached the border to Lempäälä. Runners from Lempäälä took over and we had runners all the way to Sääksjärvi. Today's running ended at the regional border of Tampere.

Our Finnish cooks!
