Scotland 5 March: Glasgow - Edinburgh

After leaving Glasgow, our first stop was the Balbardie Park of Peace in Bathgate. Here there were two very energetic schools there to meet us and run us round the Peace Mile.

The children lined up in pairs, and the front two carried the torch for a short while before passing it to the people behind and then running to the back of the queue.

It took two times round the loop before all the children had held the torch.

And sometimes there was a big group of enthusiastic harmony runners holding the torch.

And then there were some great questions from the pupils, such as, "where do you sleep?".

Our team split, and some of them went to Falkirk to visit the wonderful Falkirk wheel.

Which is a wonderful mechanism for passing barges from one canal up or down on to another.

Some police officers on bicycles stopped Karolina to ask about the run, and were very keen on its ideals.

And we went off to Blackridge primary school.

Two years ago, when we passed the school, someone saw us, and then the whole school came out to meet us. This time we could do a Harmony programme with them.

And the pupils showed us where they can find peace and harmony...

And we went for a harmony run up and down the playing area.

Doesn't the grass look like fireworks behind the torch?

In Uphall we picked up two fresh runners, Peter and Alan, two members of the Iona Community.

Peter MacDonald, who is also the head of the Iona Community. What a fabulous experience - Peter and Alan ran all the way back from Uphall with us (at least one of them on the road at all times). We thank them for joining us, salute their work, wish Peter well in the Edinburgh Marathon, and wish Alan many more years of successful marathon running to add to his 18 already!

Alan Spence hosted a beautiful and enchanting poetry function to welcome the World Harmony Run to Edinburgh. The poems focused on peace, harmony, friendship, delight and joy.

Zoltan had a little problem standing up one evening (nothing to do with running though, we were about to go for a well-deserved curry!) Well, anyway he toppled over and twisted his foot. After some diagnosis, we found a small fracture. And so, here is another World Harmony Run exclusive, Zoltan's Foot!
