Japan 28 July: Kanazawa – Fukui

This busy day started before 8 o’clock by a ceremony in front of the Prefectural Office. The Director of the Department for Sports gave a short encouraging speech and we sang the World Harmony Run Song .

About eight runners (including two children) started led by 85-year old Mr. Nishida.

Our friends Mr. Kishikawa, Mrs. Aoki, Mr. Koshida and Ms. Tomita also came to support the Run. Afterwards, we had to answer many questions of many reporters and jump into the car to catch up with the runners.

Today, we had many runners thanks to Mr. Tenno (Kanazawa Central Running Association) and Mr. Nakamura (ZKM Ishikawa). The mean age of the runners could be around 70 years and we sincerely admired them how fit they were.

There was also a lady from city hall in Kanazawa whom we asked to copy some materials for the Harmony Run and she was so interested that she came to run and took her American friend with her.

The last runner accompanied us up to a mountain-pass which was the border with Fukui prefecture.

Thanks to all the runners for participation and inspiration! Contrary to other days, we literally struggled who would run the remaining few kilometers in Fukui prefecture to Fukui city-hall.

We said good-bye to Jarmila who flew home to Czech the following morning and went to the temple Koboji, where we were allowed to stay overnight for free.
