Japan 2 June: Akashi - Osaka

"Truth is in all, but Love is all. "

- Sri Chinmoy, Founder of the World Harmony Run

When we think of truth, everybody has his own angle to look at it. When we feel love and give love, we are not looking for the differences, we are rejoicing in joy and oneness.

Last night we stayed at Tarumi Youth Hostel in Kobe. This area suffered great damage in the Hanshin Earthquake but the building of the hostel was strong and did not collapse. Since there was only a provisory shower, most of us went to a nearby spa centre. Soaking in hot water, the fatigue disappears easily.

In the morning all of the team except two drivers ran together the first 4 km along the seacoast.

Children at the European School fixed their eyes on the torch

We love children and we want to give them our best. Thanks to Mrs. Weiss and Mr. Inman, our team had the opportunity to offer the torch of harmony to children from all the continents of age 3 to 12 in an international school called Deutsche Schule Kobe / European School.

Learning the motto in various languages

... and running in the yard

90 children with all colors of hair and skin welcomed us in two rows at their school yard. We enjoyed some skits which were not only educational but also funny, and then we circled around the playground.

The end of our meeting with children from all continents

In the end, Mrs. Weiss and Mr. Inman held the torch – we are so grateful to them that they accepted our request made at the last moment.

Mrs. Weiss and Mr. Inman holding the torch

In the afternoon in Osaka district we were welcomed by Matsubara High School kids. Their thoughtful search for harmony and their wide range of harmony conveying activities impressed us deeply.

The speech of students' representative of Matsubara High School

They were students from three clubs: International Club, Students Association and the Outcast Problem Research Club. We watched a presentation video of the school. The aim of the school is Faith and it is achieved through three WA’s (these are three characters in Japanese which can be read WA, meaning harmony, communication and oneness). We were so happy to hear this!

The activities and goals of the students here are respectable

The students were simple, sincere, kind and cheerful. We are grateful to Mr. Hinokimoto who made this meeting possible.

A heartfelt send-off in the rain

In the evening the Mongolian runners rejoiced in encounter with Burma, their compatriot who joins us for tomorrow's course. We went to Osaka city hall for today’s closing ceremony. A reporter was waiting there for us in the rain and interviewed us – the article appears the following morning. It was quite late when we arrived to today’s accommodation – Hattori Ryokuchi Youth Hostel.
