Lithuania 31 May: Rucava - Nida

We left in the morning from Rucava and headed for the border...

Gints, our Latvian coordinator, received a special certificate from the locals in Rucava...

..the last km to the border...

Welcome to Lithuania!

Good old friends welcomed us as we crossed the border...

...

..two pictures combined - a masterpiece by our photographers...

Once more a big Thank You to all the runners and helpers for the great time we spent in Latvia!

...our first steps into the next country...

..we reached Palanga, a beautiful city on the sea shore...

...a nice welcome in the pedestrian area...

The city representative and the cheerleaders carried the torch once around the square...

...more kids ran with us...

In Klaipeda a father with his son joined spontaneously. The boy will be e great runner one day...

Klaipeda - an old harbor city...

..on the main square the deputy mayor, officials, runnes and children awaited us...

..nice singing...

...we offered to Romas the torchbearer award for his long, selfless support of the World Harmony Run in Lithuania...

...together with the deputy mayor we ran one lap for peace!

...and we received tasty Sushi as refreshment...

Thank you Klaipeda!

..woth the local runners we went to the ferry terminal....

In Klaipeda starts a more than 100 km long peninsula, which goes all the way to Kaliningrad. This was our running route for the next days...

...only nature - very few cars and people...

...and of course the Baltic Sea...

Nida is the most southern community before the border to Russia. A touristic place with nice people....

...a community delegation welcomed us: te mayor, the deputy mayor and city representatives for sport and tourism...

...and great refreshments...

Thank you Nida for the nice welcome!
