Macedonia 5 August: Ohrid

Today and tomorrow we stay in the region in and around Lake Ohrid. Some local events are waiting for us and the area is full of activity-possibilities for the time in between. The day started 'fruitful' at the market place where we went to buy breakfast...

Abundant, like a grape field, the day's harvest was ripening.

Vladimir, enchilada-dreaming on a blistering summer day.

Drawing water from a city centre spring, Ohrid summer season.

Tomche's charcoal sketches of scenery along the route give us joy. Check out macedonianartworld to see more.

Road-fuel for the tireless.

Really dry running, with hot Macedonian spirit.

One of the seven most beautiful places on earth encircles the team.

Our Blue Lady of the fields.

Elena steps out of the van, eager to meet her next 5kms.

Roos has a new friend to introduce...

... a slow traveller, glistening in the sun.

Emese is quite often made giddy by the sights and sounds.

Macedonian girls team - bright lights and big hearts.

"Born free, as free as the wind blows."

"I want to fly too..." Tomorrow Maria, tomorrow...

Surprise photo of the photographer.

Summit-view.

Birds of a feather flocking together.

The expression of achievement...

Peace...

Awe...

Fed by a fresh water spring.

A passerby stops to check the route map.

Communal conversation.

One of the 365 spectacular ancient monasteries in Orhid.

Ceremony at a karate school.

Former Macedonian minister of education and science is now the karate coach, wishing on the torch; clearly, a local hero.

Students at the school pay homage.

Tiny hands join in the fun.

Pretty cool, isn't it.

All in together, as always.
