Montenegro 10 August: Podgorica - Zabljak

The World Harmony Run arrived for the second time in Montenegro, one of the youngest countries in Europe!

Despite the fact that it was a Sunday morning and summer holidays, we were welcomed by a surprisingly large group of local runners.

National TV was also there and we had a small meeting on the main square with some city representatives. Ice cream afterwards made our day!

Checking out the brochure.

133 km to go...

Happy pals, I've heard of tree huggers but...

Watermelon is the best lunch in the heat...

In Danilovgrad we were welcomed enthusiastically - a city representative, local runners and refreshments awaited us...

A quite unusual table...

These boys carried the torch between the two towns with us.

City Hall in Niksic...

It was already 4:00 and we had still 85 km to run, uphill!

The higher we climbed up into the mountains, the more the temperature dropped.

Dalibor shows us what he's made of.

Fortunately, we brought some light...

Our feet welcomed the cold, energising stream... Chilly mountain air, chilly mountain water.

We ran the remaining distance on a high plateau at an altitude of approx. 1000m.

The countryside was incredible: Montenegro showed us all its beauty and splendour!

After sunset we finally reached Zabljak, and enjoyed a well-earned rest....
