Nepal 25 June: World Harmony Run is a hit!

A most incredible expression of a nation's deep love of harmony was experienced by thousands of Nepalese on Saturday June 25th.

In a country torn by a ten-year civil war amidst political chaos, thousands of harmony-dreamers participated in the World Harmony Run or watched it on live television.

The Run began at the famous Krishna Temple in Patan, on the outskirts of Kathmandu. National Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Buddhi Raj Bajracharya gave the opening remarks.

"I am very happy," he said. "I had started the World Harmony Run in 2001 from the same place when I was the Mayor of sub-metropolitan city,Patan and again, I am very happy and fortunate to open the WHR. Not only brotherhood, friendship and harmony but it also contributes to the peace in the world. Though this group in Nepal is small, the efforts made for the world peace is very significant."

The Aadrsha Kanya Nikatan Higher Secondary School performed the World Harmony Run song as students from the St.Xavier School and St Xavier College and Siddhartha Banasthali school watched.

The Minister not only gave the welcoming speech, but accompanied the Run on foot for 2 kilometers.

The Run meandered through thousand-year-old side streets, picking up participants along the way. A police escort and a truck carrying television personnel led the way.

The runners completed the run and were welcomed by the CEO of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mr. Hem Sharma Pokharel at Basantpur, Durbar Square in the heart of the Capital. He congratulated all the runners and heartfully thanked the organisers.

"People are contributing to the world peace in their own way. But Sri Chinmoy is the advocator of humanity and harmony. I see him as an ambassador of humanity who has dedicated his life for the world peace, harmony and love. We can develop and spread the message of oneness and harmony through sports as well. And Sri Chinmoy himself is a runner, philosopher and a leader of humanity. Sport does not have any boundaries nor it discriminates, it is always expanding and expanding. It can also spread the message of peace and harmony.

"When we run with good feelings and oneness in our hearts, it also creates a vibration around us and spreads the same around us.

He finished by saying, “He who has clear feeling inside can vibrate peace and love to the people outside.”

Thank you Nepal for another wonderful Run!
