This morning we started running with the deputy major of El Graó accompanied by the councilor of sports.
From there we went straight out on the N 340, a nice busy road. After 20km we were pleased to leave the busy road and follow a beautiful bumpy winding road along the coast.
We took a break at a tiny isolated beach to jump into the surprisingly cold waters of the Mediterranean sea – a welcome relief to our aching muscles. Patrick made us a special cocktail from horchata (a local delicacy).
We thanked Patrick by allowing him to run further than he intended – in other words we lost him. When we found him he looked very tired but he soon recovered after a glass of his favorite horchata milk.
At the end of the day we crossed over the Ebro delta in a tiny ferry and were greeted by Catalonian TV and a group of young runners from the local rowing club.
Their motto is “Xino Xano” which means “Slowly but steadily”. This was a perfect description of our final run to the City hall where we were met by one of the chief councilors.
This night we were accommodated in the local youth hostel which was overflowing with very loud and cheerful nine year old children.
Distance: 132km
