Uruguay 30 October: Young

At 9.00 am sharp representatives from Uruguayan athletes started a 5 km relay.

Dr Omar Lafluf Hebeich, Governor of Rio Negro State, joins the group of runners and celebrates.

Dr Omar Lafluf offered a moving speech on peace and understanding among people.

On the road, each stop was full of friendly greetings, warm speeches, enthusiastic cheers, creative plays, much music and gymnastics performances encouraging the choice of universal tolerance, peace and joy among people in the world.

Each school-stop kindly served fresh water for all runners.

Primary school children performances were excellent!16,000 dynamic inhabitants, refined creativity-hands, harmonious hearts and perfect organization far transcend any visitor´s hope!!

We, the runners in the World Harmony Run, feel deeply grateful to the kindness, joy and friendship of people in Young. Very special thanks and affection to children, students, athletes and the following institutions for their sympathy, company and celebration of harmony:

Primary Schools 34, 59, 43, 17, 67, 52, Kindergarden 70, Caifs Bees and Younguito, High Schools 1 and 2, Primary and Secondary Young Day School, Saint Vincent of Paul High School, Utu and Inau, the Traffic Department, the Symphonic Orchestra of Rio Negro, the local Human Rights office, the Rural Society, the Police and hospital.

The international World Harmony Run official ceremony in Uruguay has been honored by the presence of Dr Jorge Lafluf Hebeich -Governor of Rio Negro State (far right), Dr Daniel Alcaide, Consul of Argentina in Rio Negro (center), as well as representatives of the Catholic and Protestant Church, Amish and Claldy, producer of delicious dairy products in the area.

Many choirs conducted by Mrs. Estela Mary Silva sang a ´candombe´ version of our international song.

Groups of traditional dances delighted everyone with their charming acting.

A very interesting performance where students dressed in white clothes represented candles fighting against dark feelings

Several letters of support from Ambassadors of different countries were read out and the Governor, the Argentinian Consul and our local representative were invited to kindle the Uruguayan torch as the Symphonic Orchestra performed the Ninth Symphony by Beethoven. They also performed melodies from Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina along with the World Harmony Run song.

At Young Day School the street was fully decorated by drawings and paintings on Harmony. A beautiful rainbow art that added the beauty of the day!

Looking forward to seeing you very soon!
