USA 10 May: Trimble, TN to Thebes, IL

The morning began with a mad scramble to get all the website duties done before we had to leave to begin our run. Looking at the schedule Atulya and I (Salil) were scheduled to run 19 miles in the Torch Van. This is one of my favorite World Harmony Run vehicles because your up high and it is just fun to drive. It was pretty hilly and just as I was feeling pretty uncomfortable a reporter from the local paper in Bardwell stopped and asked if she could take my photo for the local paper. Of course I consented (and was glad for the break). As we were running into Wickliffe, Kentucky we were met by the Mayor, Sylvio Mayolo, at a huge Cross which over looks the town. Mayor Mayolo ran with us the last mile or so into town. He was the second Mayor in two days to run with us. Mayor Mayolo is 71 years and an excellent runner. He hosted us to some delicious and much needed refreshments at City Hall where they were in the middle of their annual audit. So we had a lovely time meeting all the City employees as well as eating and drinking to our heart’s content. That evening we were hosted to a scrumptious meal by El Acapulco - An excellent Mexican Restaurant in Cape Girardeau.
