USA 17 April: Newark, DE to Baltimore, MD

The mens team made their way to Rising Sun, MD where a terrific event awaited us.

Mayor Judith Cox and Town Clerk/Treasurer Sandy Diedra greeted the runners as they reached downtown and then escorted us to Rising Sun Elementary School.

The chidren lined up with their flags and artwork as the runner entered the gym.

Lorraine Bell the third grade teacher and school-wide cultural diversity rep welcomed the runners as they were cheered by 850 children. She had worked all year on a school-wide cultural diversity awareness program and we were privileged enough to get to play a role.

The mayor offered an incredibly heartfelt proclamation honoring the Run.

We would like to thank Mrs. Carol Roberts - the Principal, Carol Tiegland - Assistant Superintendent of Schools and Cecil County and Donna Zane - Cecil County School Board Member for helping to make our visit possible. We were thoroughly overwhelmed with joy and look forward to our next visit.

Our good friend Savyasachi Carl Brown's sister,Judi and father, C.W. graced us with there presence at the ceremony in Rising Sun. It's nice to connect with family along our way around the country.

In the afternoon, President of the Coppin State University Dr. Reginald Avery welcomed the runners to Baltimore. His kind words were encouraging and uplifting.

Many of the students at Coppin State ran around the court to take their owns steps for World Harmony.

Jitavrata's grandfather was honored with our Torch Bearers award for 85 years of being a positive role model in the world community.

All those who attended were inspired by the message of the World Harmony Run - Harmony Begins with Me.

We would like to offer a special thank you to Ms. Sherrye McKayn - Director of Special Projects and Special Events for helping to orchestrate such a wonderful event.

Finally, our gratitude goes to The Mount Vernon Hotel for giving our weary minds and mildly tired legs such a beautiful place to rest for the evening.
