USA 9 May: Trimble, TN - Wickliffe, KY

The sun and the roads of Trimble, TN welcomed our newest member, Yuyudhan (USA) to the run.

Mayor Terry Hailey from Union City offered the team some kind words of encouragement.

Leaving Tennesee we ran into Wickliffe, Kentucky where Councilman Thomas Powell and city clerk Kay Green greeted us with snacks and smiles.

Reporter for the Ballard Weekly, Anita Bugg saw us and was inspired to hold the torch and interview us.

Anita helped create a spontaneous ceremony with the Kentucky Young Explorers who were visiting the sacred Native American Burial Mounds.

Friends of all kinds are made on the run, and some like this one, will not leave you for miles.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cape Girardeau, led by (back center) Executive Director Luther Bonds made us feel welcomed at our first stop in Missouri.

They were happy to have us and we appreciated the relaxed vibe at the ceremony.

This boy suffered a bout of asthma inside, however once he held the torch outside, he could barely keep his feet on the ground.

Harmony goes hand in hand with teamwork. This young girl was inspired to help pack up after the cremony.

Tonight was our first camping experience and we stayed at the Trail of Tears campground in Missouri. Shyamala and Vilupti finished the schedule late at night using their headlamps to see the page.

Beauty and warmth are all we continue to find on our journey across America. May those qualities spread like wildfire through this good and great nation of ours.
