USA 25 May: Abiquiu, NM - Chromo, CO

Well said Bansidhar! After a long stretch through the flat plains of our country, the snow capped mountains of northern New Mexico and Colorado were overwhelmingly stunning.

We were rejoined by our fearless USA Director Atulya, who led us over the mountains and through the woods to grandmother's house (Pagosa Springs).

Homagni huffed and puffed and all most blew the torch down (out). He rejoined the run not realizing that we were now about 6500 feet above sea level, and unlike most of the team, he had not had the chance to acclimatize.

After smothering his face with war paint, Salil synchronized his watch with home base before heading off into battle.

It seems that Salil must have covered his eyes with the war paint because he lost track of the road and headed off into the middle of a field. Fortunately, our eagle scout Yuyudhan was able to retrieve him.

Vajra and myself held back a bit on the miles today, however we made sure to pose with the torch in front of every cool rock exposure that we could find.

Rabinath, our newest member of the team from The Netherlnds, joined Yuyudhan for a couple of miles of cow counting.

Between the awe inspiring canyons and the breathtaking snowcapped mountains, this was an unbelievable day.

We made many new friends on the road.

Joe and his wife Gloria treated the runners to some tasty refreshments.

Everybody loves to paint, even God.

GM Chester Pajak and his daughter held the torch. The Pagosa Springs Inn and Suites has generously taken in the runners for many years and we are very grateful to them.

Oak Ridge Lodge graciously hosted the womens team for the evening. They had a great time. Thank You!

A special thanks to the Pagosa Lodge which hosted part of the mens team for the evening. We offered them a certificate of appreciation, but the photograph has disappeared.
