USA 11 June: Moss Landing, CA - Pacifica, CA

While most of the team was running towards San Francisco, Salil had gone on ahead to meet with the students at Lu Sutton Elementary School in Novato just north of San Francisco.

Upon walking into the school grounds we noticed the beautiful banners the students had created for our arrival.

Mr. Scheaffer, a teacher at the school, has been hosting the World Harmony Run at Lu Sutton Elementary since 2005 and it is a favorite stop with the team.

First we visited with the kindergarten students who amazed us with their various definitions of harmony and how to create it. These were five and six year olds talking about peace, respect, love and being nice to one another.

Next we moved outside for a short presentation and then to the school oval for a relay between groups of students representing the different continents the World Harmony Run will visit this year.

As things were winding down the Principal, Suzanne Thompson came over to offer her encouragement for our efforts and welcome us back next year.

Meanwhile, the rest of the team continued running up the California coast. It seemed that around every turn was another fantastic display of nature.

Vasudha was so happy to offer her miles in her home state. She dearly wished to continue on with us, but work is calling - literally - so she must return to San Diego after tomorrow.

Shyamala is finally getting the swagger back in her running step. It's good to see her moving so well again. She missed a lot of running and hiking due to illness. We really felt for her because she's such a natural at both!

Taking a break from his board a local offers a wish for harmony.

Unfortunately, Michaela's days are also numbered with us. She will finish on Saturday in San Francisco. We have been extremely grateful to have her on the team. She's not only a strong runner, but she's just a joy to be around.

The boys offer a shout out to Quiznos for providing some excellent foot-long subs for their lunch.

Bansidhar's didn't stand a chance!
