USA 3 May: San Diego

We started our journey from Jyoti-Bihanga, an excellent vegetarian restaurant in San Diego. Jyoti-Bihanga, owned by Mahiyan and managed by Malancha, is a great supporter of the World Harmony Run.

The group of harmony runners as well as supporting local runners were off at 11:00 a.m. We were scheduled to run about 4 miles to the Healing Arts Festival in Balboa Park where the famous San Diego Zoo is located.

We ran first on Adams Ave. and then Park Ave., both very nice streets lined with charming businesses.

For some it was their first run of the season and they had to work a little. For others, it was like a walk in the park, but nonetheless the feeling of harmony and oneness was strong.

We arrived at the festival and were welcomed by crowds and a variety of  music and entertainment dispersed throughout the grounds. Before we took the stage we were proceeded by a man demonstrating "laughter yoga" introducing such concepts and techniques as to stimulate the organs, "milk shake" laughter and "cell phone" laughter were among his many techniques, unusual but provoking.

Salil, the international director for the World Harmony Run, gave a very short introduction followed by individual runner introductions and then the harmony song.

After the brief ceremony we meandered around sharing the torch and our aspirations. We found a group from "Zicco" coconut water who were giving out free juice. It was a much appreciated and needed drink after our run. Thank you guys!

Then we found a booth for The Pilgrimage of the Heart yoga studio selling related items and giving information about classes. This company is owned by a superb supporter and team member of the World Harmony Run, Sujantra Mckeever.

It was a satisfying morning and afternoon which uplifted our spirits and brought us together in a spirit of peace, harmony, and self-transcendence. Thanks to the organizers, runners, and supporters for making the day what it was.
