USA 2 January: Honolulu

At the foot of Diamond Head in Waikiki we held our second event of 2012 - running a 2-mile loop around beautiful Queen Kapiolani Park.

The palm trees were swaying in the gentle breeze which kept the runners cool.

Representatives from more than 35 nations were on hand to share the spirit of Aloha.

Everyone had a chance to hold the torch.

Joanne Tachibana, Director of the United Nations Association of Hawaii helped enormously with the organization of today's event.

Honolulu Mayor Carlisle met the runners and can be seen here holding the torch with Joanne Tachibana.

Mayor Carlisle offered medals to all the children who participated in the run.

Many of the members of the United Nations Association of Hawaii came and participated.

Next we invited everyone to participate in a symbolic "Run around the World" complete with a World Harmony Run passport which you can see Akanda from Mongolia proudly displaying.

We had set up games at each "Continent" and only upon the successful completion of the activity could you get your passport stamped and move on.

Elaine, local Honolulu resident, was one of the most enthusiastic participants.

She was also pretty good at balancing a basket of balls on her head.

Diamond Head sits majestically in the background.

Gudrun of Germany tries her hand at the tennis ball throw.

Krithartha from the Czech Republic stamps a passport.

Basketball throw.

A different take on the baskteball throw.

President Thomas Jefferson quizzes the participants on their knowledge of the founding fathers.

Visiting Asia.

Tasting the medal.

Mayor Carlisle meets Thomas Jefferson.

Testing out frisbee skills.

Getting stamps.

Badminton... well kind of.

Steady.

Pingpong ball throw.

Two new friends.
