USA 12 October: Orlando, FL

This week we wanted to honor the founder of the World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy, since October 11, 2007 is the 5th anniversary of his passing and left us with this beautiful legacy: The World Harmony Run / Sri Chinmoy Oneness Home Peace Run.

We collected drawings from children ages 5-15 from all over the USA when the US team visited schools, Boys and Girls Clubs and Summer Camps from April 15 to August 15 of this year. The response was incredible and the drawings are amazing! We would like to thank you all for your participation and making this exhibit possible.

On behalf of the City of Orlando, Mrs. Marcia Goodwin, Director of Community Affairs in the City of Orlando and Orlando City Commissioner Mrs. Daisy Lynum enthusiastically received the Peace Torch outside City Hall.

They shared with us the importance of Peace in our City which starts in the heart of each individual, only by having peace within we can all live in harmony.

With this message of Peace and Oneness we started our Peace Walk around City Hall in a beautiful day here in Florida. We passed the Peace Torch from person to person and made our own wish for World Peace.

After the Peace Walk we went inside City Hall to admire the children’s masterpieces from all over the USA and other countries like Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Norway which also sent some drawings to share the message of peace. Thank you for your participation.

Commissioner Lynum pointing to her favorite drawings.

We would like to thank Mrs. Goodwin and Commissioner Lynum for taking the time of their busy schedule to receive the Peace Torch and for walking with us today. We are so grateful for their warm welcome and their inspiration and dedication to World Peace. We wanted to thank them in a special way by giving them a couple bouquet of red roses and a certificate of appreciation. Thank you ladies.

We also would like to thank our friends Stella Tagliavore, Art Director of the School of Art of Lake Mary and her daughter Suzanne for coming to walk with us today.

We went Nap Ford Community School in Orlando and the kindergarten class of Mrs. Sanchez were already outside waiting for us to start their own Peace Walk in school premises.

They were so enthusiastic holding the posters they made for World Peace. We walked around the school yard and after feeling harmony in their hearts they all touched the Peace Torch and made their own wish for world harmony.

We would like to thank Nap Ford Community School, specially Dr. Porter Smith and Mrs. Sanchez for their support and heartfelt welcome everytime we visit their school, they are amazing and we love their teachers, students and staff for their enthusiasm!

We continued celebrating and visited World Disney World at EPCOT which is hosting their “International Food and Wine Festival” which sounded pretty good since we were all so hungry.

We got to try food from 18 different countries!

David jr’s favorite: Morocco, they have the best vegetarian platter!

At the end of the day it was time to say goodbye to our friends Tilvila from Tampa and Kushali from Kiev, Ukrain. Thank you for coming to Orlando.

It was an amazing day and I would like to thank the Maria Montessori School in Memphis, TN, Boys and Girls Club of Kansas City Missouri, Lu Sutton Elementary School in Novatu California, Frank D. Spaziano Elementary School in Providence, Rhode Island, Nap Ford Community School in Orlando and the Art Studio of Lake Mary, Florida and many more for their participation sending their art work and your hard work sharing your message of Peace and Oneness and how to make it happen in your community, which was the theme for this years’s drawing contest.Your certificates should be arriving soon in the mail!

Thank you all for coming together sharing the message of Peace and Oneness ….

“My ultimate goal is for the power of love to replace the love of power within each individual. My ultimate goal is for the whole world to walk together in peace and oneness”.
