USA 25 June: Seattle, WA - Leavenworth, WA

Our day began at the Sri Chinmoy Statue for World Peace in Fremont. It is a permanent opportunity to hold the torch and make a wish or prayer for more peace and harmony in the world.

It is in a beautiful location just west of the bridge on the Burke Gillman Trail. The statue really captures the deep peace that Sri Chinmoy eminated.

A few of our runners were very generously treated by Dr. Richard Bartlett, a local chiropractor and friend. Thank you for getting these runners in line.

Thank you so much to Tana Baumler at the Maltby Cafe for providing the core team with the best breakfast they have had all run. It was fabulous!

The cooks really rocked the house. We are still running on their fuel.

A cinnamon roll for four. Dave says "No problem."

Monroe Mayor Robert G. Zimmerman and many of his staff and friends welcomed the torch with open arms.

Mayor Carolyn Eslick and a local Boy Scout Troup received the torch in Sultan. They have welcomed us a few times now and hope for us to come back soon.

The scouts helped us "cross the street" and then some with the torch.

Gold Bar Mayor Joe Beavers met us at City Hall to wish us well in all our endeavors.

Uhaina, our representative from Mexico, takes a peaceful moment before beginning here run. She is our youngest and her enthusiasm is infectious.

More than 25% of the Index population came out to greet us on Highway 2 and run with the torch in to their lovely little city. Talk about enthusiasm!

We met Matthew Bell from the UK as we were running up the pass.

He is riding from Seattle to New York. Maybe we will see him again along our journey. Good luck Matthew! (We actually did see him the next day. Several times.)

Making our way up Stevens Pass.

A rare frolic in the snow for our Mexicana.

Nothing new for the resident New Yorker though.

Finally settling into cozy Leavenworth...

...where we were once again hosted by the Best Western Plus Icicle Inn. They have supported us so many times over the years. It is one of favorite places to stay throughout the country.

For dinner we went to Los Camperos, a Mexican restaurant, in Leavenworth,WA. where we enjoyed some autentic tradicional Mexican dishes like Mole Enchiladas. The food was absolutely delicious, the people were so nice and hospitable.

Thank you so much for offering the team such a wonderful dinner and experience.
