USA 10 July: Belle Fourche, SD - Rapid City, SD

Thanks so much to Chris' Campground - love you!!!

It is warm and still very dry out here.

The sun is fairly relentless.

The Black Hills is a vey popular place for motorcycles.

The day began for us with a visit to the JAM summercamp in Belle Fourche, SD.

We showed our video and then invited the children to hold the torch.

Next we went outside to go for a run.

Some people got in more miles than they might have been expecting.

Next we were onto Spearfish where we had spent the previous night. The majority of the City Council came out to greet us. That's Spearfish Mayor Jerry Krambeck holding the torch.

An expression of harmony amongst Spearfish's elected officials.

Heather Murschel, President of Rotary and also a reporter for the Black Hills Pioneer Newspaper was wearing a number of hats, as Rotary President she organized the event, and as a journalist she reported it.

Spearfish's future leaders were also on hand to share their hopes and dreams for a more harmonious world.

Making a wish for world peace.

Running from Deadwood to Rapid City.

A family stopped to encourage Rupasi.

On to Rapid City for a visit to meet with Ben Watson of Rotary Rapid City at Storybook Island - a farytale themed park that was originally created by some visionary members Rotary and is now its own non-profit entity.

Ben, an avid runner, led us into the park.

We met with Ben and a couple of the Storybook Island managers.

Uhaina from Mexico talks about why she's running around America.

Some flags bought here by visiting Rotarians. You can see one from Tuggeranong - a suburb of Salil's hometown Canberra.

Exhausted from a hot day in the sun.

Ben treated us all to icecream - this cheerful crew were our servers.

Uhaina and Harita meet up with the Cat in the Hat.

I guess that's Prince Charming.

Hitching a ride with Aladdin on his magic carpet.

2 World Harmony Runners and 101 Dalmations.

Pinocchio didn't come to life while we were there otherwise we might have had a new team member.

Fi Fi Fo Fum - Helping Jack get away from the Giant!

Jack and Jill went down the hill. Jack fell down and apparently so did most of the World Harmony Run team.

Salil risks life and limb to get some water.

Stopping Humpty Dumpty from having a "Great Fall!"

Rapunzel lowers her hair for the Prince to climb up.

In a stricking re-enactment of the Rapunzel fairtale Harita lowers her hair for Uhaina to climb up and thus escape a dire fate at the hands of terrible trolls who live under the bridge.

After our visit to Storybook Island we me Tom Katus who invited us to a "Chamber Mixer" taking place at a downtown law firm. So feeling pretty hungry we headed down there and made lots of new friends with the who's who of Rapid City.

We stopped by a statue of Thomas Jefferson to pay our respects.

Farewell to Prapti - thanks so much for sharing time with us.

Uhaina say hello to Mt. Rushmore.

– Salil
