USA 23 July: Chicago, IL

Many thanks to our friends at Victory's Banner restaurant in Chicago for providing delicious food for the team throughout the day.

Our friend Siddhanta in his florist shop Gratitude-Heart-Garden.

Today turned out to be a real highlight as we got to meet the South Shore Drill Team in Chicago. A drill team practises a kind of performing art involving flags, batons and mock rifles. The South Shore Drill Team has won at the international level in their art. But more inspiring than their dedication and great talent is the impact they have on their community. From their mission statement : "South Shore Drill Team uses performing arts to engage inner-city youth throughout their critical teenage years, mitigate the dangers of gangs, drugs, violence and premature parenthood, and guide members towards completing their education and becoming responsible citizens."

Salil introduces the World Harmony Run.

Dr Rickey Williams from the Chicago Area Project, which serves to reduce juvenile delinquency.

Spokesperson for South Shore Drill Team, Rodney Nelson, Team Captain.

The World Harmony Run Torch-Bearer Award was presented to Arthur Robertson, founder of South Shore Drill Team.

Girls from Ukraine sang a song in their native tongue.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to South Shore Drill Team.

And also to Monique Turner from the Gary Comer Youth Center.

Members of the Chinese American Service League Youth joined us for a parade of flags.

Some of our team attempted to learn some of the drill basics.

11 year old Desonni joined the Drill Team when he was 5 and practises 5 hours a day.

In the evening we visited Grant Park in the city centre.

A short World Harmony Run video was shown in Grant Park where many people were gathered to watch the movie "Chariots of Fire".

Good morning Chicago
