Our day started with a welcome from Wellington Shire Mayor Scott Rossetti in Sale accompanied by several of the Shire Councillors and staff. Mayor Rossetti was most complimentary in his praise for the Run and the legacy that it creates in human hearts.

Our friendly reporter from the Gippsland Times got into the action.

Our next stop was the ABC Radio offices in Sale where we were greeted by an enthusiastic Lucy Nash who co-ordinated our visit. We were then ushered into the studio where Celine Foenander introduced us to the audience and explored the nature of the World Harmony Run on air. We are very grateful to Celine for the fantastic reception that made us feel right at home. After our 15 minutes on air, we then passed the torch around to many of the ABC staff who heard us during the interview.

It was then back on the road, past all the kangaroo and wombats.

Our next stop was the East Gippsalnd Shire Offices in Bairnsdale where we were greeted by Deputy Mayor Peter Neal.

No trip to Bairndale is complete without a visit to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church which has recently been restored with magnificent frescos adorning the walls and ceilings. A very beautiful and peaceful place.

Our next stop was the famous boating town of Paynesville situated in the heart of the Gippsland Lakes.

It was then on to Paynesville Primary School where the whole school turned out to meet the runners and participate in all our activities with total enthusiasm.

There were smiles all round from students and teachers alike as the torch was passed from hand to hand and heart to heart.

Finally we were back on the road and on to Lakes Entrance, lead by our youngest team member Kieren who ran the first leg out from Paynesville.

Lakes Entrance, as the name suggests is situated right at the eastern end of the Gippsland Lakes and is famous for fishing and as a popular holiday destination in the summer months when the popoulation swells by thousands.

We met here some nice Canadians – Douglas & Barbara Walkinshaw.

Wherever we went, local residents were there to ask about the Run and to hold the torch. So much so, that it took us over 25 minutes to cross the 200 metre pier across from the town to the surf beach.

Even though the weather was a little cool and overcast we could not resist a quick dip in the inviting ocean waters. The perfect remedy for our tired muscles.

In Lakes Entrance we welcomed a new team member, Chandrakanta Crull, who then took us all out to dinner for a special treat, which was fully appreciated by the whole team.
