Jamaica, 10 June: Departure and...Tropical Storm Arlene!

We wrapped up our stay in Jamaica with a morning television show interview on TVJ.

David Fitz-Henley made the arrangements with Sutania Williams, a savvy producer at TVJ for the interview who managed to intersperse footage from the run into the broadcast.

Also at the studio we met cheerleaders from the Clan Carthy High School who won the Jamaican National Cheerleading Competition.

(Our connection to St. Kitts was missed, so we stayed the night in Antigua to get up at 4am to catch a morning flight to St. Kitts. We apologize profusely to those at the airport in St. Kitts who were waiting to receive us.... And now we just heard an airport annoucement that we are in the middle of Tropical Storm Arlene, so our flight to St. Kitts is...)

Until then, here some new photos recapping the Run from Spanish Town to Kingston, Jamaica.

Two young boys wearing only flip-flops set a decent pace as the torch was carried through Spanish Town.

Natabara covers a stretch through traffic with the help of two motorcycle police escorts. The gentleman in this picture did not have his rain jacket and got thoroughly soaked.

Ketan splashes through the aftermath of a downpour.

Jamaican Minister of Sport Portia Simpson-Miller holds the torch with local high school track team members and our Dr. Sakshat Flowers.

The Run passed by the Bob Marley Museum and we couldn't help but stop to get a picture by his statue.

Homagni jumps the grassy median to share the torch with a smiling traveler.

(Update: we may get on another flight later this morning, leaving at 10am -- when we are scheduled to start the run in St. Kitts this very morning! The puddles are even gathering in the airport here! More to come...)
