United Arab Emirates 12 January: Dubai

Today we visited the Indian High School in Dubai.

As there were too many kids to meet them all at once (the school has more than 10,000 kids...), we were going for two sessions, starting with the girls.

For the first session 1,000 girls lined up on the sports field.

Their discipline was very impressive - most schools in the West could learn a good lesson about discipline from them!

Smiling faces everywhere...

Our good friend Dr. Tapan Kumar Das carried the torch onto the stage, where he received a small harmony-gift on behalf of the Indian High School.

All the kids ran one lap on the field in a very organised way - class by class, they went off!

Offer a wish for Harmony!

The teachers also held the torch together and a final group picture was taken!

The School Principal - Dr Joseph - received the torch!

A most welcome chocolate-gift during the break between the two sessions!

Now it was the boys' turn and we repeated the whole ceremony...

The prefects started the running, and all classes followed...

At a certain point the run got quite dynamic (boys will be boys!!!...)

We hardly could leave the school, as now more and more kids joined in for their chance to hold the torch.

We left the school in a special way - we took the school bus!

Thanks to the Indian High School for this great meeting!
