Latvia 11 September: Rujiena - Sigulda

We got to stay in a beautiful place out in the countryside. Then it was off for our first full day in Latvia. The weather was overcast, but the team was refreshed and ready to go. We thank our friends at the Mill of Koni for taking care of us.

The Mill of Koni - our accommodation place.

City of Renceni.

A small concert to welcome us.

The Captain and his mate.

Time to fuel up for the day ahead - busy hands at work.

Our next stop was at Camphill village Rozkalni.

This village is a place for young people with special needs.

The donkey wanted to join in the festivities.

Lunch?

Is it something in the soil!

Next on our way, we came through Valmiera.

Watch out, he's behind you!

Little ones and little ones.

In Valmiera there was a running event today. All runners kindly shared their wishes for friendship and harmony with us.

Thank you for adding your wish, we'll take it along our way to Moscow.

Proud to hold the torch.

Across the railroad tracks and onward.

The next great welcome was in the village of Liepa.

Our young presenter spoke excellent English as he read his welcome speech.

Another gift gratefully received.

In Cesis they had a race around the city today.

We were featured at the the award ceremony.

After running the race, some of the participants still had energy to join us!

Watch out, running children!!!

Stalbe was our next goal, and the Mayor welcomed us there.

A future runner fuelling up.

Our meeting was at the monument of freedom.

After a short ceremony the Mayor joined us in the Run. Another step towards harmony in the world!

We continued on our way to Straupe, and along the road we met a lot of people who came to run with us.

Every few kilometres there were children waiting for us next to the road.

Of course we made a short stop to tell about our Run.

It's all too much for me.

The last place on our route today was Sigulda.

There, Winter Olympians pushed the torch on to its final destination of the day.

The Olympians formed a relay. Here the Shic brothers passed the torch after the first part.

The Olympic brothers all taking part in today's finish.

A choir performed the World Harmony Run song.

Thanks to the City of Sigulda for providing our food and accommodation!

What a great inspiration.

Our county coordinator giving an interview.

Enjoying a good apple is important and this is a good one!

Friends together.
