Austria 10 September: Feldkirch - Bregenz

Once again this year, the W0rld Harmony Run arrived in Austria: as part of a relay connecting Switzerland with its neighbouring countries, the Austrian leg started in Feldkirch, an old traditional town in Vorarlberg. The Relay Run is in honour of Henry Dunant, founder of the Red Cross, who spent the last years of his life in Heiden.

Our international team met at City Hall and during a small ceremony Mrs. Dr. Barbara Schöbi-Fink, a member of the city council, lit the torch.

A short, symbolic run and our team headed off towards Bregenz...

The next meeting brought us to Götzis, famous for its annual Decathlon competition. Mayor Werner Huber received the torch...

...our team enjoyed running through the beautiful countryside!

In Hohenems Mayor Dr. Richard Amann welcomed us and gave us great insights into the long history of Hohenems. The city is quite famous for its old castle and its Jewish Quarter.

In Hohenems empfing uns Bürgermeister Dr. Richard Amann.

Finally we reached Bregenz, capital of Vorarlberg. Mayor Dipl. Ing. Markus Linhart, himself a runner, gave us a warm welcome!

Ing. Markus Linhart, selbst ein begeisterter Läufer, empfing uns herzlich...

Thanks for the nice meeting!

Vielen Dank für den netten Empfang!

We were honoured to sign the golden book of the city....

The day was not over yet. Next was the Handball Team A1 Bregenz, last season's Austrian Champions.

The team received our runners and everybody passed the flaming torch...

And another meeting: the Handball Team of Alpla HC Hard also welcomed our international team and passed the torch...

A final group picture and off we went to the last meeting of the day:

..the ice hockey stadium of the EHC Lustenau.

...das Eishockey Stadion

Lustenau was just playing a tournament and was about to start the game against the HC Eppan...

Das Spiel EHC Lustenau gegen HC Eppan war angesagt...

Our runners went on the ice and the two team captains held the torch together!

Good luck to all the athletes for their competitions!

Viel Glück an alle Athleten für alle Wettbewerbe!
