Ukraine 1 June(Team 2): Nikolaev - Novaya Kahovka

We experienced an easy morning, with everybody happy and nice weather.

Later in the day, our team was the guest of honour at a festival in Herson, celebrating International Children’s Day. About 150 people attended the event, many of whom were children. We were able to tell them about ourselves and about the World Harmony Run generally.

We had a lunch in a sport school and then, since we were ahead of schedule, we took the opportunity to go for a swim in the Dniper, the largest river in the Ukraine.

In Novaya Kahovka, a team of local cyclists and runners joined us; they were so fast, our runners had to work hard to follow them!

Novaya Kahovka is a relatively young city of only 52 years, and is near a big electric power plant. The people here are simple and big-hearted, and eager to help in all possible ways. They enjoy an atmosphere of peace and calmness in their surroundings, brought to their city by the lovely nature of the River Dniper and a man-made lake.

Distance: 143km
