Australia 18 March: Mirrabooka Harmony Day

Mirrabooka, a suburb of Perth in Western Australia hosted Harmony Day Celebrations, in which the main theme of the day was the World Harmony Run.

Sixty children from Mirrabooka High School and Nollamarra Primary marched in with the World Harmony Run Torch, which was received by the local member of parliament, Ms Janine Freeman MLA.

Choirs from Dryandra Primary and Nollamarra then performed Sri Chinmoy’s songs that the runners had taught them on separate school visits earlier in the month.

The realisation that children are crucial to world harmony became obvious at the event and their participation in any World Harmony Run program adds to the joy and delight of everyone present.

Three Torch-Bearer awards were given – to Chris Ward of the Edmund Rice Centre, a refugee advocacy group; Don Immanuel from the Office of Crime Prevention; Sherma Ugle, an Indigenous leader.
