Welcome to Puchberg! After a good night's rest we started our day at the local primary school. The kids lined up and greeted us enthusiastically...

Willkommen in Puchberg! Nach einer erholsamen Nacht ereichten wir die Volksschule Puchberg. Die Kinder standen Spalier und begrüßten uns begeistert!

The children learned the WHR song and gave us a great performance, including movement and gestures...

Die Kinder lernten den WHR Song und gaben uns eine großartige Vorstellung - Choreographie inclusive!

...peace in the hearts...
...Friede im Herzen...

...all the kids wrote wishes for peace and harmony in little letters and put them into a bowl...

...alle Kinder schrieben Friedenswünsche auf ein Blatt Papier und sammelten diese in einer Schale...

...we lit the "sacred fire" with the torch and all the wishes went into the air and around the world!

...wir entzündeten dieses "heilige Feuer" und alle Wünsche wurden durch den Äther in die ganze Welt getragen!

Together we ran out of the school, and we continued to Wallern.

Gemeinsam liefen wir aus der Schule und unser Team verließ Puchberg Richtung Wallern.

...we met local runners who accompanied us all the way to the next meeting...

...wir trafen lokale Läufer welche uns bis zu unserem nächsten Meeting nach Wallern begleiteten...

In Wallern the mayor and children from the primary school and the kindergarten welcomed us!

In Wallern erwarteten uns bereits der Bürgermeister und Kinder der Volksschule und des Kindergartens!

...the children performed a "sun dance" for us!

...die Kinder tanzten einen "Sonnentanz" für uns!

...Wallern celebrated a special day to protect the environment, with alternative energy projects..

...in Wallern fand am Hauptplatz eine spezielle Messe zur Förderung und zum Kennenlernen alternativer Energiemethoden statt...

...der Bürgermeister empfing die Fackel zum obligaten Gruppenfoto!

Next stop was Eferding. The deputy mayor received us in the main square with a big smile and nice refreshments: fruit and vegetables from the region!

Nächster Halt war Eferding. Die Vizebürgermeisterin empfing uns am Hauptplatz mit einem breiten Lächeln und willkommenen Erfrischungen - Früchte der lokalen Produktion!

...usually we ask the children why we run with a torch and not with a banana. Here is the proof that we sometimes also run with carrots...
...normalerweise fragen wir die Kinder in unseren Präsentationen, wieso wir mit einer Fackel laufen und nicht mit etwas anderem, wie z.B. einer Banane. Hier ist die Ausnahme zur Regel: manchmal laufen wir auch mit Karotten...

...once again we ran along the Danube, and reached Aschach. The deputy mayor welcomed us and we spent some nice time despite our tight schedule...

...noch einmal liefen wir entlang der Donau und erreichten Aschach. Der Vizebürgermeister hieß uns Willkommen und wir verbrachten einige nette Minueten in Aschach trotz unseres engen Zeitplans...

...soon we started the climb up into the "Mühlviertel", one of the districts of Upper Austria. We reached Herzogsdorf...

...schliesslich begannen wir unseren Anstieg ins "Mühlviertel", einer Gegend in Oberösterreich. Wir erreichten Herzogsdorf...

The mayor welcomed us and together we brought the torch into the local church, where the priest gave us his blessings....

Der Bürgermeister empfing uns herzlichst und gemeinsam trugen wir die Fackel in die Kirche, wo uns der Priester segnete...

...a small uphill run brought us to a local sight, a wooden cross in the forest...

...ein kurzer Lauf bergauf führte uns zu einer bekannten Sehenswürdigkeit, einem Holzkreuz im Wald...

...back on the road we went to Neufelden, where the mayor received the torch....

...und weiter ging's nach Neufelden, wo uns der Bürgermeister empfing und die Fackel entgegennahm...

....25 bananas later.... These last days have brought many meetings with lots of refreshments. Austrian hospitality provided many fruits and snacks, so all of us ended up with tons of bananas, as somehow everybody knows they are good for running...
...25 Bananas danach... Die letzten Tage brachten viele Empfänge und die österreichische Gastfreundschaft bot viele Erfrischungen an - vor allem Getränke und Obst. Jeder weiß, daß Bananen gut für Läufer sind - noch niemals aßen wir so viele Bananen auf einmal...

...next stop Aigen. The mayor received us and ran with us. Thanks for the meeting!

...nächster Halt war Aigen im Mühlkreis. Der Bürgermeister empfing uns und lief mit uns einige Schritte. Vielen Dank für das Treffen!

In Ulrichsberg the mayor and some local athletes welcomed us....

In Ulrichsberg begrüßten uns der Bürgermeister und lokale Athleten...

Our team received the "Ulrichsberger Taler"! (which is not the local currency!...)

Unser internationales Team empfing den "Ulrichsberger Taler"! (das ist nicht die lokale Währung!...)

...a short symbolic run brought us right into Klaffer, where two mayors welcomed us: the mayor from Klaffer and the mayor from Schwarzenberg, the next and final destination of the day.

...ein kurzer Lauf und weiter ging es nach Klaffer, wo uns zwei Bürgermeister empfingen: die Bürgermeister aus Klaffer und aus Schwarzenberg, unserem heutigen Etappenziel...

Klaffer is promoting herbs. The whole community will soon be a big herbal garden. Thank you for the gifts!

Klaffer ist spezialisiert auf Kräuter. Die ganze Gemeinde wir bald ein einziger Kräutergarten sein. Vielen Dank für die netten Geschenke!

Accompanied by the mayor from Schwarzenberg and his wife, we ran through green fields and majestic forests all the way to Schwarzenberg...

Mit dem Bürgermeister aus Schwarzenberg und seiner Frau überquerten wir grüne Wiesen und liefen durch majestätische Wälder...

...running barefoot has its price. Luckily medical treatment was supplied...

...Barfuß laufen hat seinen Preis. Glücklicherweise war medizinische Vorsorge vor Ort...

We ended today's run at the local fire station...

Wir beendeten den heutigen Tag bei der lokalen Feuerwehr...
