This day, our visit to the city of North Bay marked our final destination on the Northern Ontario route; the city was a fitting conclusion to our passage through this vast and beautiful landscape.

The two schools we visited overwhelmed us with unprecedented spirit and enthusiasm. The students of Ecole Saint-Francis ran with us for 3k to city hall.

Cette journée à North Bay marque la fin de la route du Nord de l'Ontario; notre visite dans cette ville aura été une digne conclusion de notre passage dans cette vaste et très belle contrée.

Les deux écoles visitées nous étonnèrent par leur engouement sans précédent et leur enthousiasme débordant. Les étudiants de l'école Saint-Francis coururent avec nous 3 Km jusqu'à l'Hôtel de Ville.

École Saint-Francis:

City councillor Dave Mendicino and executive assistant to the Mayor, Adriana di Benedetto were pleased to see the beaming faces of the children and, after reading the proclamation, handed out North Bay pins to both the runners and the children.

We were also accompanied by local runner Michel Chartrand, a retired teacher who recently ran the Boston Marathon.

Le Conseiller municipal Dave Mendicino et l'Adjointe administrative au maire, Adriana di Benedetto, se réjouissaient de voir les visages souriants des enfants. Monsieur Mendicino et Madame di Benedetto lurent la proclamation puis offrirent à tous une épinglette de la ville.

Notons aussi que nous étions accompagnés du coureur local Michel Chartrand, un professeur à la retraite qui a récemment couru le marathon de Boston.

For Ecole Saint-Thomas D’Aquin, the World Harmony Run was a top priority. The school actually went to the lengths of having T-shirts that had “Course de l’harmonie mondiale” written on them, as well as buttons and torches made from construction and tissue paper which the students all held.

The walls of the gym were covered with art work, prayers and poems on the theme of world harmony, and some of the students read short essays. Significantly, the school faculty decreed that the run’s motto, “harmony begins with me,” will be recited by the students in French every morning before the national anthem is played.

Pour l'école Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin, la Course de l'harmonie était une priorité. L'école était en fait allée jusqu'à produire des chandails soulignant le passage de notre équipe à l'école, ainsi que des macarons et même des flambeaux faits de papier de construction, que les élèves tenaient fièrement.

Les murs de l'école étaient tapissés d'oeuvres d'art, de prières et de poèmes sur le thème de l'harmonie mondiale, et certains élèves lurent de courts essais. Fait remarquable : la directrice décréta que le slogan de la Course, " l'harmonie commence avec moi ", allait désormais être récité par les élèves tous les matins avant l'hymne national.

The runners of Northern Ontario would like to thank all for their enthusiasm and participation.
