Italy 11 September: Comacchio - San Marino

Thanks to the Holiday Village Florenz for hosting us! We enjoyed the stay next to the Adriatic Sea, which is still warm...

Not a very busy day with meetings, but Italy's history was catching up with us: first we went to Ravenna.

...the Mausoleum of Theoderic, king of the Ostrogoths and ruler of the Eastern Roman empire is burried there.

The Mausoleum is very impressive: the top is made of one huge stone - 300 tons heavy and 10m diameter...

The World Harmony Run crossed the Rubicon! "An erripto Kybos" (the upper class in Rome spoke Greek...) - "the dice has been thrown", as Julius Cesar said 2000 years ago when he crossed the river and changed history forever...

Next was "Italia in miniatura" - a lovely place near Rimini. You can see all of Italy's famous buildings in a smaller scale.

Thank you for the nice meeting!

..Rome...

..Pisa...

...Milano...

...Caserta...

???

..Firenze..

...we reached Rimini...

...the "assessore allo sport" welcomed us...

...a phantastic ice cream...

...we left Rimini and approached the Apennine mountains. Gentle hills greeted us (for now, the tough ones come later...)

The border of San Marino! One of Europe's smallest countries...

Our old friends of G.P. San Marino welcomed us and together we started the long climb up to the city...

...the fortress - high above ther Adriatic Sea...

The goal is won!

...a small meeting with kids ended the day!

Thank you for the great Run!

The sun set and we look forward for a great start in San Marino!
