Italy 18 September: Torino

What a busy day in Torino! We started at the San Domenica Savio school: a most inspiring welcome!

...we were deeply impressed how quickly the teachers got the kids in order: the typical efficiency of Torino...

...the national anthem...

...we received nice gifts: a shirt the school designed - all the kids were wearing it, too!

...peace poems...

...we planted a peace tree...

...a great school-team! Thanks for the welcome!

Children from the school joined us for the next school:

...big smiles at the Scuola Multietnica Parini!

...such a wonderful multi-ethnical mix! We had lots of fun with the kids...

...and we went on to a mosque: Imam Abdelaziz Khuonati received the torch....

...we lit a candle...

...and the Imam ran all the way with us to the next meeting:

..the Dome of Torino!

Don Garbiglia Giancarlo, the Dome priest, welcomed the runners and shook hands with the Imam...

..all runners lit candles, too...

...and on we went to the City Hall...

The city representative for sports in Torino, Mr. Stefano Gallo, received us with kind words...

...a wonderful run through the capital of the Piemonte...

...along the river Po...

...we reached the ONU - United Nations in Torino ( ONU stands for the UNICRI, ITC ILO, UNSSC divisions...)

...we met again kids from the San Domenica Savio school...

Thanks to the police for the great support!

...together we ran into the UN - grounds...

..employees joined in...

We presented the World Harmony Run to the UN staff....

(from left to the right:) UNICRI Director Dr. Jonathan Lucas, ITC ILO Director Mrs. Patricia O'Donovan and UNSSC Director Mr. Jafar Javan received the torch and spoke warm words of welcome...

...a special guest: Marco Berry, humanitarian and famous Italian anchorman and TV author, received the Torch Bearer Award for his inspiring service...

...the kids performed the World Harmony Run Song!

...the employees formed a human chain and passed the torch along the UN grounds...

...a final group picture...

Thank you for the great event!

..we went on to the old part of Torino...

...a short visit to the Mole Antonelliana, the landmark of Torino!

...what a view...

Thanks for the welcome!

...in the evening we visited the community Sermig Arsenale della Pace...

...a nice meeting...

...more than 85 different countries where the assossiation is engaged in humanitarian projects...
