Poland 30 May: Stargard - Bialogard

Since most of us do not belong in either of the categories fast or long-distance runner, to cover 134 kilometres was quite a challenge. The amazingly green and energizing countryside and the cooling wind helped us a lot, and in every bigger town either kids or youngsters joined us with great enthusiasm and police escorted us to the very centre of each town, where its Deputy Mayor awaited us with refreshments, gifts and, of course, an open heart.

These enthusiastic youngsters joined us for almost two hours.

The Mayor of Wegorzyno welcomed us.

Running through the city of Wegorzyno.

These strong runners from the Wegorzyno high school even continued to run with us to the next city.

A local running club from the town of Drawsko Pomorskie joining us...

A beautiful reception at Drawsko Pomorskie.

The Mayor was extremely happy running with the torch, and so were we.

We are dreaming of having a bus like this for our Harmony Run team in the future :-)

Nobody can equal our Antonina in endurance and perseverance.

More proof of Polish hospitality, experienced here in Polczyn Zdroj where the Mayor ran with us.

We were invited to come again and stay in their town, to try the famous Spa facilities.

Our compassionate and patient team Captain, enjoying a cup of tea.

Polczyn Zdroj runners at full speed.

Our final reception was in Bialogard.

The Mayor and city representatives.

A historical gift from the former president of Poland, who was born in this city.

We still had some more distance to cover...

"Don't you really want to join me for a few steps?"

The last torch-bearer of the day.
