Australia 16 April: New York

Robert Hill, Australia's Ambassador to the UN, holds the World Harmony Run torch in NY, 2008

Members of the Australian team were in New York this week for the launch of the US World Harmony Run, so they took the opportunity to visit an old friend of the event, Australia’s UN Ambassador Robert Hill.

At his Manhattan office, Ambassador Hill looked keenly over the brochure of the proposed Australian Run and fondly remembered the time in 1987 when, as a junior Senator, he held the Peace Torch on the lawn of the Old Parliament House in Canberra during the historic Hawke/Howard Peace Run Ceremony.

He then very kindly posed for a photograph in front of the Australian and UN flags.

We promised that we would return again in August with some DVD footage of the Australian Run.
