Suomi-Finland 4 September: Vaasa - Kurikka
We started the day with a nice ceremony in downtown Vaasa, at the market square.
Päivä alkoi hienolla seremonialla Vaasan torilla.
Member of Parliament and local guardian of the Run Håkan Nordman gave a very nice and touching speech.
Kansanedustaja ja paikallinen World Harmony Run -juoksun suojelija Håkan Nordman piti hienon ja liikuttavan puheen.
Riitta Pääjärvi-Myllyaho - running with the torch - facilitated our visits to many schools in Vasa yesterday.
Riitta Pääjärvi-Myllyaho juoksee soihdun kanssa. Hän oli auttamassa, kun olimme edellisenä päivänä vierailulla Vaasan kouluissa.
On the way out of Vaasa we stopped once more in this special park...
Poistuessamme Vaasasta pysähdyimme toistamiseen tässä erityisessä puistossa...
...which has a statue of the founder of the World Harmony Run, Sri Chinmoy.

We also looked at the tree planted next to the statue yesterday, to see if it was doing well... :-)
Samalla katsoimme, miten eilen patsaan viereen istutettu puu voi. :-)
This local runner Antti Ranta-Aho showed us the way to the nearby stadium...
Paikallinen juoksija Antti Ranta-Aho näytti meille tien läheiselle stadionille...
...where we had a ceremony at the beginning of the Vaasa Marathon.
...jossa pidimme seremonian ennen Vaasan Maratonin alkua.
We ran part of the route with the marathon runners.
Juoksimme osan matkaa maratoonareiden kanssa.
The next ceremony was at a girls' football match. They were quite good players. Maybe they would beat our team :-)
Seuraava seremonia oli tyttöjen jalkapallo-ottelussa. He olivat hyviä pelaajia. Saattaisivat voittaa meidän joukkueemme :-)
In the afternoon local runners joined us for many kilometres.
Iltapäivällä paikalliset juoksijat juoksivat kanssamme monta kilometriä.

For the last part of our day's running, another great group of runners joined us. They are excellent skiers too.
Päivän viimeiseen juoksuosuuteen tuli jälleen mukaan hieno ryhmä juoksijoita. He ovat myös erinomaisia hiihtäjiä.
As a present we gave them special World Harmony Jharna Kala paintings by the founder of the Run, Sri Chinmoy.
Lahjaksi annoimme heille juoksun perustajan Sri Chinmoyn maalaamat maailmanharmonia-aiheiset teokset.
Aimo Lehtiniemi holding the torch has 200 Finnish Championship medals in many fields, including Track and Field.
Aimo Lehtiniemi juoksee soihdun kanssa. Hänellä on 200 SM-mitalia monesta eri lajista.
We were very glad to meet with the great Finnish cross-country skier Juha Mieto in Kurikka. He won a silver Olympic medal. He lost in the 15 km race to a Swedish skier by only 0.01 of a second! So he received a Fair Play award from UNESCO. That was just 5cm! What a race!
Kurikassa meillä oli kunnia tavata suuri suomalainen hiihtäjä Juha Mieto. Hän voitti olympialaisissa hopeaa. Hän hävisi 15 km:n kilpailussa ruotsalaiselle hiihtäjälle vain sekunnin sadasosan! Tästä hyvästä h sai UNESCO:lta Fair Play -palkinnon. Matkassa se on vaon 5 cm! Aikamoinen kilpailu!

Koordinaattorimme Niharika Iiris Nuuja jutteli mestarin kanssa.
He gave a beautiful speech and inspired us for the next journey.
Hän piti kauniin puheen ja inspiroi meitä eteenpäin.
Then we passed the torch around to everyone....
Sitten soihtu kiersi kädestä käteen...
