France 5 July: Morhange - Strasbourg

As we ran some distance yesterday, we could enjoy a good morning's rest at the place of some friends.

As if the rain was not enough...

Enjoying nice countryside and a good picnic...

The long, lonely, country roads in France add special flair to the usual running experience.

Some new friends we made along the road; welcome refreshments included!

After a short running day we reached Strasbourg, where we were invited to the Council of Europe.

Mrs. Maud de Boer - Buquicchio, the Under-Secretary General of the Council of Europe welcomed us and gave a very nice speech.

She pointed out that some walk, some run and some run away from responsibilities, but some, like the runners from the World Harmony Run, run for responsibilities and give an inspiring example.

Further, she commented that the European Council shares the same goals of harmony as the World Harmony Run does and that she would have been disappointed if we had not come to the Council of Europe!

In good old tradition established by former representatives at the Council of Europe, she even ran a few steps for harmony!

All of our team members received a nice souvenir gift-bag from the Council of Europe, which included a rain jacket; we found this very amusing, it was raining most of the day!
