France 26 June: Théoule-sur-Mer

We followed a beautiful coast for the entire day.

It was actually our original itinerary but it was also the only one available today; a big forest fire ravaged the inland and every other road was blocked. We had to run very carefully with our flaming torch, for this wonderful vegetation is also very fragile.

Local divinities certainly protected us in this dry landscape, as we didn't have an accident.

Let us see the bright side of being stuck in the tourist traffic jam for quite a long time - it gave us the opportunity to wave and to speak with a lot, really a lot of people, who were not driving much faster than the runners.

And we had the chance to observe the most traditional southern houses...

This part of France is famous for its very special cliffs that the local people call “calenques”, the jagged coastline revealed to us at every new turn a new colour of the sea and a new secret beach.

Although we tried our best to improve our coordination today, once again some of our runners went for those special “visits” inland. Michael from Austria, for example, explored the city of St Tropez, famous thanks to the director and actor Luis Defunes; unfortuntately, no meeting was planned with him :). As a consequence, we seriously and conscientiously reconsulted our maps once again.

HUUUM!!!! Stretching and relaxing, Jean-Claude, our runner Pierre's father, invited us to his last yoga lesson of the year - the occasion for all the team to take the break it was seeking.

Jean-Claude was very enthusiastic about all the ideas of the run; he also spontaneously provided us with his house to spend the night at and helped the runners to feel REALLY welcomed.

During the same yoga evening, we met and made out first contact with runners from the local club of St Cyr sur Mer. They were so impressed by the World Harmony Run that they even asked if they could join us for a longer journey in the future.
