Latvia 30 May: Aizpute - Rucava

A good start into our last day in Latvia: as we were near Grobina a bus full of kids approached, fully eager to run!

..sunny, but chilly - perfect running conditions. The kids were really enthusiastic!

...we reached the main square were the mayor and more children awaited us...

...a most precious gift: a cake! We didn't really starve in Latvia, as we were treated almost everywhere for nice food and refreshments, but a dessert always finds space in the stomache...

Thank you Grobina!

...as we reached Liepaja, TV and more runners were waiting...

Liepaja is in Latvia the capital of music: many famous national musicians emerge from this city. A highlight is the annual music festival in July near the Baltic Sea...

...we reached the city centre, were children performed for us...

...the deputy mayor received us with kind words...

...many smiling faces...

The city od Liepaja invited us for a most welcome lunch. Thank you for the hospitality!

...we followed for the next km's the coastline and ran along the Baltic Sea...

...and more kids! Latvian coordinators did a great job by organising school busses loaded with kids all over the country. What a great atmosphere on the road!

...that's Edgars school bus....

...and we reached Nica. Not in South France, but in Latvia!

..a traditional welcome with Latvian folk music...

...and more refreshments...

...these ladies were amazing: singing all the time with so much joy and harmony!

...our great runners...

...and organizers...

Thank you Nica!

...we said good bye to our new friends and reached the next group!

...runners from Rucava welcomed us at their community border...

...and the last meeting of the day!

Rucava is a small, remote place but with a big heart! We felt absolutely welcomed at taken care of...

Thank you Latvia for these great days full of running, smiling and joy!
