USA 14 August: Flushing

This morning we visited the Hindu Community Outreach summer camp held at a local primary school in Flushing.

The students were eager and enthusiastic to learn about the World Harmony Run.

Over the past few weeks the students had learned all about peace and harmony and how it finds expression in their own lives.

The students had created artwork on the theme of world harmony and peace.

Each child expressed their own unique, creative way of bringing peace into the world.

The students offered us presetantions of poetry, song and even hatha yoga.

Each child received an ornamental torch as part of their presentation.

Led by Dr. Uma Mysorekar, President of the Hindu Temple Society, we walked with the torch to the Sri Maha Vallabha Ganapati Devasthanam temple where we received the blessing of Lord Ganesh - he who removes all obstacles from our lives.

Our coordinator, Mahatapa Palit, presented Dr. Mysorekar, on behalf of the temple, with one of our founder Sri Chinmoy's, artworks dedicated to World Harmony. We were also honored to take part in the dedication of a World Harmony Tree which will be planted in the temple grounds.

All the students were delighted to have a chance to hold the torch.

To all the participants, we would like to thank you for a wonderful experience and for welcoming us into your heart's and into your sacred place of spiritual expression.
